The HUE has released its latest batch of goodness, entitled Unscene. It can be purchased from their website for $10. To hear samples, check out the music page here or the HUE’s website.
Karl Denson, of the Greyboy Allstars & Tiny Universe, has returned to his roots with KD3, the Karl Denson Trio. Featuring Anthony Smith (Global Funk and Giant People) on keys and Brett Sanders (older brother of KDTU drummer John Staten) on drums; KD3 is a bold statement about jazz, past, present and future. Staying true to Karl’s vision of jazz as dance music, he manages to find the funky side of things in some very unexpected places.
The HUE will be opening a show for KD3 at the Abbey Pub on Saturday, Sept 15. Come on out!

The HUE has some new dates, they’ve been added to the shows page, so check ‘em out! In addition to this, The HUE are recording an album, so keep an eye out for that to drop. The Pnuma Trio and The Motet have been kind enough to play some dates with the group; both are killer groups & are definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. And to top it all off, the band is playing as part of the USTORM Benefit tonight!
In other news, The HUE has a website of its own at www.thehuemusic.com, but, as always, the myspace is still there at www.myspace.com/huemusic.
The group has received some accolades lately, here are a few:
Technically and compositionally proficient.

Collaboration with Xavier Davis and Jeff Franzel!
Published by 1 year, 5 months ago in Music and Studio. 0 CommentsI’ve produced some amazing acoustic and electric guitar tracks with legendary New York City producer, songwriter, and performer Xavier Davis. Xavier has performed with Peter Erskine, Billy Hart, Dave Liebman, Diahann Carroll, Vincent Herring, Marcus Printup and Nicholas Payton. He has appeared on the recordings of Nicholas Payton and Vincent Herring. I’m definitely making plans to collaborate with him on future songs and performances!
I’m sure it’s somewhat obvious, but in case you can’t quite put your finger on it, there’s been some changes to the website. For example, it’s now running Wordpress, a blog engine, so if you want to leave a note for Marcus about something that’s been posted up here, look for that “comments” link, & leave some love. If anything appears broken, please let me know by emailing webmaster(at)marcusrezak(dot)com
Marcus will be playing at the Bitter End with Jeff Franzel, Feb 27th @ 9pm, so if you’re in the area, come on out & hang with Marcus!
Marcus is currently taking on a small number of serious students for guitar & music theory. If you’re in the Chicago area & interested, contact him via email at marcusrezak(AT)speakeasy(DOT)net
Marcus & The Hue have secured every Wednesday in February at Wise Fool’s Pub, so come on out & enjoy the funky fresh sounds of this jam jazz-rock trio!
Marcus has decided that the time has come for him to pursue other musical interests. No enmity was involved, and he remains on good terms with the rest of the band. The last six months for him have been an experience he will never forget; He’s made many great memories and friends and hopes everyone stays in touch with him as he embarks on his new music direction.
All the best to Dave, Greg, Chad, Tim, Matt, Anne, and the 56 Hope Road family.
