3. Marcus Rezak
I gave this guy the nickname "The Sultan of Shred" for good reason: this guy is a dominant force of extremely aggressive axe swinging. He stars in two very different bands, Digital Tape Machine and The Hue, but both bands end up with his fingerprints all over the sound. His work in DTM is strong, and has a lightning-fast pace that acts as volatile dance fuel. But his work in The Hue is every bit as aggressive, just in a slower, more metal-leaning direction. He is also one of the fastest guitarists I've seen and can take any song to the edge of metal guitar mania. Rezak is a madman, plain and simple.

Chicago guitarist Marcus Rezak takes us through a typical week in his life – four nights touring the Midwest with his band Digital Tape Machine, a Sunday night gig with his band The HUE, and then a work week full of studying at DePaul University and teaching private lessons.
How were you feeling on your way back to Chicago?

Featuring three of the most accomplished virtuosos in the world in the genre of rock-fusion instrumental music, The Aristocrats was formed shortly after January, 2011 after rock guitar sensation Guthrie Govan (Asia, Erotic Cakes, Dizzee Rascal), drum phenom Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Necrophagist, UKZ), and bassist extraordinaire Bryan Beller (Steve Vai, Dethklok, Mike Keanelly) got together to do an impromptu Bass Bash event during NAMM.

Digital Tape Machine and Ohmphrey To Share October Bills- Jambands.com
Two Umphrey’s McGee side projects will join forces over four nights in October. Digital Tape Machine features the group’s Joel Cummins and Kris Myers along with Joe Hettinga, Kevin Barry, David Arredondo, Marcus Rezak and Dan Rucinski. Both Cummins and Myers also appear in Ohmphrey along with UM guitarist Jake Cinninger, Chris Poland and Robert Pagliari. The two bands will come together from October 5-8, traveling from Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois.
